I had assumed the "grill" was supposed to be a charcoal type grill personally. Thus your griddle would have been perfectly valid in that context.

Didn't think of it like that but it makes sense. As I had to halve steaks and gammon there's a perfect replica of this meal sat in a bag in the freezer ready to be defrosted and cooked. I shall give that one a go on the grill pan and compare.
